So for the few people that actually read this, and incase you didn’t know, I am a huge music fan, and recently something crap has happened to a band I have loved for a fair few years it can be said.
So recently members of a band (of which I am not going to name), left this said band to “pursue” other interests. In light of this, the members who left the band released a somewhat essay basically describing their actions, and I think this kinda sucks. I saw the same thing happen with Blink-182, and now this band is doing the same, and it sucks.
The thing is also, it’s kinda hit me in the same way all the Blink-182 shit hit me, as in I’m like, “which members do I trust/listen to if any”, and it quite frankly sucks. Now, I’ve only heard one side of this story, and I pray to God I only hear one side, because with Blink-182, there was 1,000,000 different sides of the story which sucked.
So yeah at the minute life supporting this band sucks, considering I’ve been there from the start. Caught loads of their shows. Saw EVERY performance they’ve played at Reading Festival, and I’m now like who the fuck do I trust in this band?
Wednesday 07th April 2010.
So I got the pleasure of seeing my good friend MC Lars Horris (Andrew Nielsen) play a few nights back in Oxford. It was good seeing him again. I haven’t saw him in like 3 years so it was good to hang out, catch up and whatever. I also got to meet DJ (Damondrick) who is the raddest guy ever. I’ve been seeing MC Lars for about 6 years I think now, and I’ve never caught a show in which DJ played, so it was an awesome show in that sense too.
A few days before the show was my brothers birthday too, so we hooked up, and organised a Happy Birthday sing a long to take place during their set which was pretty awesome. There must of been about 300-400 people in this venue all singing Happy Birthday. Good times.
I also got introduced to a chick called K.Flay. K.Flay? I hear you ask. K.Flay is a rad female rapper, who’s been doing work with Lars since last year, which is some awesome stuff (Check out the Single & Famous EP). But when you’ve been listening to an artist, and you think “Man, I wish I could see them, but who is gonna take them on tour?”, and then your boy MC Lars brings that very person on tour with him, made it awesome.
So all in all another good night at an MC Lars show. The guy has introduced me to some awesome artists (Punchline, Wheatus, K.Flay), got me into Soundchecks, guestlists, the works, and this is why I love the guy. He’s not one of these artists who don’t give a fuck about their fans. He will literally come hang with you etc. So go to an MC Lars show if you can, and introduce yourself, you won’t regret it.
So life has been pretty hectic lately. Major wedding planning (got all the invites back from the printers, and wrote all of them), and sorting out nitty gritty bits and bobs to do with the church. I’ve currently worked 6 out of my 9 day work week, and I’m sorting plans with my hommie Jill for Florida in October. See I’m pretty damn stoked to be going back to Florida this time around. Not just because, yeah I’ll be married, but I haven’t got to hang with; Jill, Jackie and Nancy at the same time. Funnily enough it’s always 2 at one time, and the third can’t make it. So this’ll be rad. So yeah that’s about it for now. 3 more days at work until my well deserved day off. Can’t wait. Peace.
So I’m currently watching a documentary about a band called Blur (hope y’all have heard if them), and it seems crazy how long I’ve been a fan of them for. I remember when the guys released the single “Song 2”, which has now been released for 13 years, and it really got me thinking. Along with The Specials, Blur paved the path in what music I listen to today, and for that I’m thankful for those 4 lads from Essex who started that band 20 years ago for a laugh. If they didn’t make that band God knows what I’d be listening to today.
Friday 12th March 2010.
So I was sorting through my vinyl records a few days ago, and finally found a shelf in my room to show my “pride and joys”. These are only my 7”, and 10” vinyls though (and if you look closely you can see two 5” vinyls ontop of my 7“‘s). Unfortunatley there was no room for my 12” vinyls, but I freaking love vinyl. There’s just something about the sound, and overall feel of a vinyl that I love. If you wanna see a load of vinyls you should see my Dads collection…..DAMN. He has been buying them for over 30 years though so it doesn’t count!
I totally suck at this. I’m determined to get back into posting on here now. 3rd time lucky, eh? LET’S DO THIS!!’
So I haven’t posted since before Christmas, mainly due to procrastination. So I’m gonna try and post more regularly if I stop being so lazy. Peace.
